The organization believes in the clear value of education to improve the environment for all those that live here. While there is active involvement in activities like Hunter Education and ATV and Boating Certifications, Manitowoc County Fish & Game has supported a variety of community education and training programs both directly and through its involvement in the FORWARD Endowment. This has trained everyone from youth to teachers who educate the next generation of sporting men and women. Our commitment to education carries to the individual clubs and units in the work they do in their local communities.

Recently we increased our commitment and provide two annual scholarships of $2,500 each for students going to college to pursue careers as wardens, conservationists and others that support the goals of the organization. Education is an important tool in continuing the legacy that has been created here in Manitowoc County.

Hunting is a great sport but it is also serious business. Being safe on any hunting trip is important not only to the immediate hunter but also to those they hunt with and the people in the surrounding area. Safe hunting is also an important component of maintaining our hunting rights and heritage in this country. Manitowoc County Fish & Game has been a leader in supporting hunting education for many years and continues that commitment offering programs at a number of units in the organization.

Trapping

Trapping is part of the history of Manitowoc County! Learn from the best!!

Manitowoc County has a rich trapping heritage dating back to the start of Manitowoc County Fish & Game Protective Association. District 8 Trappers, part of the Wisconsin Trappers Association is the local group for the trapping experience. All those getting their first trapper license is required to complete an education course in Wisconsin. This helps to protect the trapper, the resource and the property owners in the area. Trappers are an important part of resource management and can help address nuisance animals causing damage to home and property.
