Important Information for Hunters

Be Safe Out There!

As the weekend opener approaches Manitowoc County Fish & Game wants to remind all hunters to put safety first during their hunt. Know your target before shooting. Do not transport loaded weapons. Consider what is downrange from your target. Coming home safely is more important than any deer.

Important Information if You Want to DONATE Your Deer

With the advent of CWD in the deer population in Manitowoc County, hunters can no longer simply donate their venison to area food banks and related resources. The deer has to be certified as clean for consumption with no CWD indicated. There is still a relatively simple way to donate your deer. Two area processors have agreed to participate in a special program to help:

Manitowoc County - BRW Processing,

512 Washington St., Valders 920-901-8486

Calumet County - Hickory Hills Meats,

W3445 Hickory Hills Rd., Chilton, 920-849-2618

You can drop off your deer at these processors and they will test and store the deer before butchering. If the deer is cleared it will be processed and donated. This is the most convenient way to make donations during this coming hunt.
