Manitowoc Police Gearing Up for Bow Hunting
The Manitowoc Police Department is inviting bow hunters who plan to hunt in the city limits to attend a pair of upcoming meetings.
The one-hour sessions will each be held in the lower-level meeting room in the Public Safety Building, located at 910 Jay Street, on August 19th.
The first will begin at noon, the second is at 5:00 p.m., and both will cover topics such as the purpose of the hunt, the type of permissions needed to bow hunt in the city, and the rules set by the city to conduct a safe hunt.
All bow hunting and landowner applications need to be returned to the Manitowoc Police Department by September 5th, and can be obtained and submitted on the City of Manitowoc website, under the Police Department page, or at the front counter of the Police Department during normal business hours.
Also of note, the City-owned property on Orchard Lane will no longer be open to hunting.
Since 2007, a total of 517 deer have been collected within the city limits, including 160 bucks and 257 doe.
Last year, 42 vehicle vs deer crashes were reported within the City of Manitowoc, which is up from 2023 when 30 were reported, and 2022 when 24 such crashes occurred.
