The Manitowoc Unit of Fish & Game announces a new fundraiser for their organization with their First Annual Meat Raffle to be held at Tapped on the Lakeshore on Sunday afternoon, May 17th, from 2 to 5 pm. A variety of meats and seafood will be raffled at the event through tickets purchased at the event. Hourly drawings will feature different offerings and some special items as well. This is a great way to have some fun, win some food, and support conservation activities of the Manitowoc Unit.
The major prize of the event will be a special raffle drawing for half a hog and processing. The half hog is being donated by Downey Farms, with processing of by Leede Research. Newton Meats will be handling processing. Tickets for the major drawing will be available prior to, and at the event and participants need not be present to win with the special drawing scheduled for 5pm on the 17th.
In March the Manitowoc Unit announced a $2,000 donation for tree planting on the walking trail in the area of the Manitowoc Zoo. This is being used for plantings that benefit animals, birds and pollinators. The group made the donation in honor of their role in being a founding member the zoo when it first started. In raising more funds the group hopes to continue these projects and youth activities in the area.
