The spring season has begun for the Wisconsin State Clay Target League.

A total of roughly 3,580 student athletes from 141 schools around the state are competing, including students at Mishicot, Valders, Kiel, Reedsville, Elkhart Lake/Glenbeulah, and Plymouth High Schools.

Last year, the Mishicot team was highly successful, sending a contingency to the national championships in Michigan.

Clay target shooting has been a growing sport in the high school ranks in Wisconsin, with a number of new teams being added each year.

The high school athletes’ nine-week spring season is already underway and will conclude May 24th.

Most participants are then expected to participate in the State Tournament in June, with the top athletes in the nation eligible to compete at the USA High School Clay Target League National Championship in July.
