Maribel Sportsmen’s Club Celebration!

IT’S A CELEBRATION!  Maribel Sportsmen’s Club will be celebrating their 75 anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 1. The day will start with Lewis Class trap from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. There will be an on-going meat raffle throughout the day. Food and refreshments will also be available. Rough Fish Assassins will be there from noon to about 5 p.m. They have a 40-foot trailer full of rough fish mounts that were taken by bow fishing. You can also try your luck trying to arrow a Rinehart rough fish target floating in a large tank with a bow right out of their trailer. This was originally set up for kids however, when I booked the trailer the owners told me the adults get just as excited as the kids when trying to hit the fish. I understand some friendly competition goes on between friends at the events where they take the trailer. Then to top the day off, The Dirty Martini’s will be playing live from 6 to 10 p.m. Bring out the whole family and round up a few friends too for a full day of fun and activities. Maribel Sportsmen’s Club was founded in 1951 and in the first year they held meetings in a local tavern. Forty acres was given to the organization west of Maribel and in 1952 the clubhouse was built using lumber and poles from another members land from the Rosecrans swamp. Several other buildings were constructed throughout the years but the original clubhouse is still in place and used for our monthly meetings and other events. Maribel Sportsmen’s Club is next to I-43, exit 164, State Highway 147, Maribel.

Maribel Sportsmen’s Club has their fall 2026 hunter safety course set for Thursday’s, Aug. 13 and 20, both from 6 to 9 p.m. and finish up on Saturday, Aug. 22 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Cost is $10 per student and is open to both youngsters and adults.
